The station signed in 2013 as WBZS. Since the sign-on, the station has been leased to Three Daughters Media by owner George S. Flynn Jr., which mimics WICO-FM Lynchberg’s talk format. WBZs entered into a three-year lease with Community Media Group, owner of adult album Alternative WVMP, on December 1, 201 on 1 5] [6] After the lease expired, on December 1, 2019, AAAA programming returned to WVMP. In April 2020, Flynn signaled the station to broadcast a non-commercial news / talk format on the cover of the Covid-19 epidemic in New River Valley. The station was run by former WVMP general managers and volunteer staff, with on-air hosts working from home studios. Three months later, he sold the station and eight others to the Educational Media Foundation for 3.4 million.
